Who we are. Chapman Expert Reports Ltd (“we”, “us”) is the data controller for the personal data described here. We are registered with the ICO under reference C2022633. Contact us about your data at contact@chapmaner.com.

What we collect. Identity and contact details (name, date of birth, address, email, phone); case details (jurisdiction, court, case number, hearing date, the parties, your role); financial and employment information needed to assess borrowing capacity; solicitor/representative details; and your preferences and consents (WhatsApp contact, referral partners).

How we collect it. From you via our online form, from your solicitor or representative where they complete part of it for you, and from information you give during the engagement.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis (UK GDPR).

To prepare and deliver your report — performance of a contract.
To run, improve, record and take payment for our service, and prevent fraud — legitimate interests.
To introduce you to referral partners (mortgage/protection, wills, pensions/investments) — only with your explicit consent, given per category and withdrawable at any time.
To send our post-matter guidance email and WhatsApp updates — your consent.
To meet legal and regulatory obligations — legal obligation.

Who we share it with. Your solicitor/representative or the court, where you ask us to or where the report is for proceedings; referral partners — only the categories you have specifically consented to, only what they need, each bound by a written data-sharing agreement and permitted to use your data only for that introduction (we never sell your data); and service providers acting as our processors (secure form provider, workflow/automation tools, cloud email and document storage, payment processor, website host). Some providers operate internationally; where data leaves the UK we rely on adequacy regulations or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement.

How long we keep it. Six years after our last contact with you, then secure deletion or anonymisation, unless the law requires otherwise.

How we protect it. Access controls, encryption in transit, and access limited to those who need it.

Your rights. Access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, portability, and withdrawing consent at any time (this doesn’t affect processing before withdrawal). Email contact@chapmaner.com to exercise these. You may complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk), though please raise it with us first.
